LIVING IN THE NOW
Yesterday has past
The Future is yet to Come
In the midst of the struggle with earning a living so we can have a place to call home and food to fill our needs, we often miss the gift of the NOW. We are offered ways to spend our time. We can go to sporting events, watch tv, go see a movie, play a video game, or text friends. There are times when this seems a way of escape as we push into the background the lack of money, the physical problems and the mental conditions we have. We turn to drugs, alcohol, food, and other ways to deaden the pains we have. Time flies by quickly. The gift of a new day...the NOW...comes once again.
The choice is made. Meditation clears the mind and relaxes the physical body. In that moment, it is clear that truth can set us free, but how or where is truth found? There are so many voices claiming to be true. Churches have doctrines and dogmas and rituals to show us truth. Businesses sell goods and services that can help. Politicians pass laws that define what is right and wrong. Religion, Economics, and Politics all offer us hope and call for us to have faith or trust them.
We read the newspaper, listen to the tv news broadcasts, we hear sermons, listen to political leaders and economic gurus tell us what lies ahead. We identify with ideas, Ideologies, tenets, dogmas, churches, and political parties that seem to think and act like we think and act.
SOURCES OF TRUTH
But there comes that time in the NOW when we realize that we have a brain and the ability to reason. We question what we have been taught. We see that what we have heard in sermons does not match what we have experienced. We see the Sacred Writings (Bible or other sacred Writings) is not what we thought or have been taught it is. Yet, we see things in there we haven't been taught. The truth begins to emerge and that moment in time...THE NOW..we find truth as we discover how to balance of the sources of truth.
